I've mentioned it before on the KOL forums that some sort of organization and structure for this project is needed, otherwise other developers will not have as much motivation to help report bugs and contribute code. The solution put out by Vladimir Kladov is for us to simply send him emails with bug fixes or questions, and to discuss KOL in the forums.
Most developers know that sending an email is just not as convenient and organized as using a proper bug tracking system, having a proper English mailing list (Russian is not international, unfortunately, while English is), and a website repository for components. Sending email with code attachments is not as convenient and organized as having a source control system and more importantly an English mailing list (in addition to Russian mailing list).
The javascript based KOL/MCK website at bonanzas.rinet.ru is another problem - it is read only and has no community behind it. It should be a public repository where people can visit and upload components on a self serve basis (sort of like a small Torry.net website).
A bug repository also desperately needs to be created for KOL/MCK. Unfortunately The owner of the KOL project is very private and doesn't think SVN/CVS and bug reports are needed for the project.
I understand that maybe the KOL project does not have funding - but a mailing list can be opened for free at several places so there is no excuse for that. And there are free CVS/SVN repositories. I think it is more the attitude of the developers that the KOL/MCK project does not need CVS/SVN, does not need English community, and does not need a bug reporting system.
I'm not just complaining - but rather making an actual attempt to jump in myself and do some work here for the KOL/MCK project. Eventually I'll create an English mailing list, a bug repository, and a website repository for KOL/MCK related material.
There are a few scattered English web forums on the internet mentioning KOL and MCK. But they are just that - scattered across several websites and basically it is hard to find lots of KOL information easily. A more organized KOL community and website for English language is desperately needed - with the forums and the mailing list informatoin and the component repository all in one easy to find place.
