What is a Proposal
|
As some of you know, the favorite overused word on the FPC mailing lists is 'proposal'. A proposal is a magical solution that solves all problems positively without any negatives. In case you haven't figured it out yet, ALL my articles, complaints, and moaning lead to eventual 'proposals'. All proposals must have negativity in them.. all bugs are negative things! All bugs that are repaired were first negative.. they weren't positive all along. All people that build solutions to problems.. are building solutions to PROBLEMS.. and problems are negative things.
Moaning and complaining is what verifies a problem really exists.. and is the first step in making a plan. Then you go about fixing the problem and finding creative ways to fix the problem after outlining WHY you want to fix the problem or WHAT is the problem in the first place. Ranting DOCUMENTS the problem! Even if exaggerated, many times ranting is what causes a developer to say.. to heak with this, I'm going to build better software! The moaning and complaining is part of the whole 'proposal'. There isn't any complete separation of a complaint versus a proposal. They are actually similar things. A bug report is a complaint.. and it is a proposal at the same time.
