Retards Can Install MC Themselves

Many people who are in the know use efficient tools like midnight commander when using a console window.. it helps to get a general scan/grasp of the system without going into each directory and using the ls/dir command.

So some guy from Prague it seems requests MC be available for PC-BSD out of the box.. Yes PC-BSD is intended to be easier to use.. but one could even argue that other BSD's might even consider midnight commander. After all, where do we draw the line.. why ship Vi when Pico could be instead shipped? Vi has so much power, MC has so much power.. what is the point in shipping Vi with a BSD? One could argue, well, with Vi we have people who are used to Vi.. but one could also argue that with MC we have people that are used to MC.. so..

I first tried BSD about five years ago.. and BSD was just as crappy then as it is today when it comes to helping newbies. Okay, this could weed out newbies and keep the smart ones in. However, why not go further and not offer any 'cp' and 'rm' commands to anyone? Have them write their own.. as a weed out.

Even myself not being a newbie still loves midnight commander or mc-light especially. Good for FTP browsing.. something that is needed on most operating systems. Good for peaking into Tar/Gz files.

So what does the guy from Prague get as a response? Someone replies with..

install and compile it yourself using ports
That's great.. but it would still be much much better to have MC out of the box for a distro like PC-BSD.

What can I say.. most Open Source communities are full of absolute decision made people who just don't get it. There still needs to be a BSD with midnight commander and an editor that is NOT Vi as default.
