~ briefcase cracker movie
A man interested in time travel theories in order to go back in time and make big money on a stock in the stock market he knows will go up (or win a lotto ticket) wonders if there are any other similar "cracks" in the universe that can make someone get rich quick. All these time travel scenarios seem extremely complicated and difficult to implement, so are there any simple "cracks" in the universe or loopholes that can be exploited?

Why not avoid time travel and complicated physics altogether and just find something simple, but technical.

The man finds out there is a weapon that can make people vomit, by sending electronic waves through the air. This seems like science fiction to the man but he knows it works as these weapons actually exist, not in theory, but in practice.

With this power, why not do some betting on sporting events and make the players come close to vomiting, causing them to lose the game, and bet on the other team who you do not make vomit. But why deal with human beings? There must be something less risky and less of a violation to human rights.

Horses. Bet on horses. Dial in to the horse(s) that everyone thinks is going win, make it almost vomit halfway through the race - bet huge money on a horse no one thinks will win - and take the earnings. After a few horse races you are rich. The vomit weapon "in the briefcase" that he brings to the races can tune in to the horse in such a way that the horse comes close to vomiting, but does not fully vomit, in order to make this crack less noticeable. i.e. if the horse(s) vomit fully, everyone will start noticing that horses are vomiting in a whole bunch of races and notice something strange. So just make the horse come close to vomiting so that it loses the race. Or send twitches to it's leg.

How many races would it take before you had half a million dollars or 2 million in the bank account? There are different strategies in going about this: do it over the long term over a period of several years so that less people notice what is going on. Or, make as much money as possible in a short time, travelling to hundreds of horse races in a few months, and get out of the game as soon as possible and flee with your earnings. If you need to top up your bank account a few years later, you can always "Go back and play" with anything that can be bet on that involves moving creatures affected by electronic frequencies in the air - i.e. all living animals, including humans.

History of the character: software programmer interested in vulnerabilities, cracks, encryption breaking, loopholes in software and physics.

The simplest crack is the best crack. Forget complex time travel theories, just get rich by doing something simple in the present with technology available today.

You've got to wonder, do some of the people on Earth who are extremely rich have loophole theories or run cracks to get where they are? People who get rich really quick are suspect. Why would Bill Gates run a complex software company, if he could just instead make horses vomit? Or more correctly, make horses almost vomit. If you make them vomit in full, people will find out you are a cracker. But if you hide your crack, you get away with it and make a whole bunch of money in the process. If you vomit on the way to the bank, you know someone is cracking you.

Movie scenes: "so much for animal rights". When he discovers horses can be made to vomit, by command.

Goes to grocery store, sees a package that says "Crackers". Laughs.
